It's every bit as real and meaningful as any other celebration, it simply isn't religious and doesn't need to be. A christening isn't a legal act either; the legal part is registering the birth. A naming ceremony does what a christening does emotionally, welcoming a child and marking the people who'll help raise them, but on your terms, with your words and your beliefs at the centre.

You can include promises from parents, name special people as guide-parents or mentors, light candles, plant a tree, or invent something entirely your own. It's your moment to make make and your memory to keep.
